Instead of filming in a studio or at his acclaimed Vietnamese restaurant in Australia, chef and host Luke Nguyen is taking us straight to the source on Luke’s Vietnam. He travels through the country, visiting family members and cooking and tasting the cuisine of his homeland…

Before feasting your eyes on his adventures on Cooking Channel in July, here are
5 Things To Know About Luke Nguyen:

1. Vietnam is not technically his birthplace. Luke is Vietnamese, but was born in a Thai refugee camp after his parents fled Vietnam in 1978. The family then settled in Australia.
2. He comes from a food-obsessed family. Luke’s parents owned restaurants in the Vietnamese neighborhood of Cabramatta (outside of Sydney), and his older sister Pauline is his business partner and cookbook co-author.
3. The menu at Luke’s award-winning Sydney restaurant, Red Lantern, features many dishes he’ll make on the show, such as the classic Vietnamese salad Goi Du Du Tom Thit—Green Papaya Salad with Prawn and Pork.
4. He leads 13-day culinary tours of Vietnam for chefs and food-lovers.
5. In his spare time (which we can’t imagine he has much of!) Luke founded the Little Lantern Foundation, a non-profit that teaches Vietnamese kids skills for success in the restaurant and hospitality industries.

I absolutely love Vietnamese food! I truly enjoy Luke's cooking show, so refreshing and authentic. I can't wait to see more of Luke's cooking shows. You rock Luke!
Ok I understand he is a chef, but wtf he is in Vietnam explore and show people the food we don't want to see his cooking skills. He is an Idiot if I wanted to see a travel show I would watch one he is on a cooking channel show the local food, I know there will be those that will object, but most chefs that are travelling would eat the local food, and then if they have their own version they would offer it to the public not just cook it. take Tyler Florence he tries other recipes then cooks his own version this chef is not exploring the cuisine or the traditions he is just showing off. I could do that with Puerto Rican food just cook some arroz con pollo and say this is how it should be rather than try some locally and then try to re-create it.
Unfortunately, the network has opted out of showcasing the exotic and interesting chefs like Luke, Bal Arneson, Ching-He Huang, and Roger Mooking in favor of the same people who have been dominating the Food Network for (seemingly) eons: Rachel Ray, Giada D.L., Bobby Flay. Sad, isn't it? They have totally ruined Saturday morning programming on their network.
