Smoky Bloody Bull with Pickled Okra
Recipe from Food Network Kitchens
Large-format cocktails (aka punches) will be big in 2011. Here, we mix up a batch drink with the spirits of the moment, tequila and mezcal. And for extra 2011 trendiness, take it a step further: pickle the okra yourself and embrace DIY artisanship.
Serves 6 to 8
4 cups tomato juice
2 1/2 cups beef broth
2/3 cup lemon juice
2/3 cup mezcal
2/3 cup tequila reposado
3 tablespoons okra pickling liquid, plus 6 to 8 pieces pickled okra (preferably smoked)
2 teaspoon hot sauce, or to taste
Lemon wedges for garnish
Stir all of the ingredients (except for the okra and lemon wedges) together in a pitcher. Pour over ice into Tom Collin’s glasses. Garnish with pickled okra and lemon wedges.
Southeast Asian Black Kale Taco (with a bit of Pork Belly)
Recipe available at Food Network.
Experimental tacos, designer vegetables, and Asian noodles will all be trending hot in 2011. Put them together and you get something serendipitously delicious, something we think of as 2011 in a dish.
