Luke Nguyen is the acclaimed owner and chef of the Sydney restaurant ‘The Red Lantern.” In season one of the series, Luke returned to the country of his heritage and explored the Southern regions of Vietnam with his family and uncovered their mutual love for food. In season two of the show, Luke takes us on a culinary journey through the northern regions of Vietnam. Starting in imperial Hue, and traveling north toward Hanoi and Sapa, nine regions are explored over ten colorful and energetic half hour episodes.

The Vinh locals take it upon themselves to join Luke on camera, then decide to offer Luke advice and intervene in the cooking process.

We travel with Luke as he demonstrates his passion for Vietnam and its cuisine. He shows us how to cook “grassroots” style and demonstrates ways to discover the clean, fresh and fragrant experience of cooking and eating healthy, delicious Vietnamese food.

Luke chats with the staff in Ba Do, squeezed into their tiny kitchen as they prepare the food (Episode 1: Hue).

In the premiere episode, Luke explores the food and people of Hue, home to the ruling Emperors of the 17th century in central Vietnam. Hue’s culture and its history are discovered as Luke takes us on a sprawling journey of the vibrant town.
