    Looking back, it seems about right, to me, that the Phils did what they did, with Carlton. Coming off of the glory years, Phils fans got to watch discards Ryne Sandberg and Julio Franco go on to great careers, while being treated to the likes of Rick Schu, Jeff Stone, John Russell, and so on. (Incidentally, I think, that B.Ruffin had a decent half-a-season or so in ’86…..a case of the broken clock being right, twice a day??)

    PLANÍCIE: Observei bem a superfície da Lua vista nas fotos e dá para perceber a perspectiva da profundidade devido ao relevo e à sua granulação.Realmente é como se o horizonte estivesse próximo e a ausência de atmosfera não causaria uma ilusão de ótica aproximando o que está longe e sim ao contrário.Na Terra, a presença da atmosfera é que causa uma alteração na visualização. Observamos isso na paralaxe que causa o cintilar das estrelas e quando a refração da atmosfera causa um falso aumento dos astros próximos ao horizonte, assim como a redução da luz emitida por esses astros.Por isso vemos o sol e a Lua falsamente maiores e menos brilhantes quando estão próximos ao horizonte.Em planetas com atmosferas mais densas que a terra, esse efeito é potencializado.Em Vênus cuja atmosfera é 90 vezes mais densa que a nossa, a atmosfera causa uma distorção tão grande que a superfície parece ondular um pouco e estar mais próxima, como se estivéssemos vendo a mesma atrás de uma tênue lâmina dágua.Moral de história: Falta de atmosfera não causa distorção visual e sim a presença da mesma.
