Oscars + Food

Though more of a foodie than a movie buff, I'm only one film short of having seen all the movies nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. And while it's enjoyable to debate with friends which picture should take home the top prize of awards' season, it's even more so to see who can come up with the punniest, funniest Oscar movie/food combo.

Here are some of my favorite so far.

It turns out Winter's Bone lends itself well to the food category. Winter's Bone-In Pork Chop, Winter's (T) Bone Steak, Winter's Boneless Chicken Breasts...whatever meat you're in the mood for.

While it's tempting to play with the title Black Swan (I'm still waiting for a successfully created Black Swan cheeseball), it's way easier to get a pun out of Portman. It works with portobello mushrooms, but it also works with Port. Take a port based punch and turn it into Natalie Portman Punch.

This one is perfect for a family dinner prior to tuning in to the Oscars. Or if you're looking for a party appetizer, here's two to consider: King's Speech Prawns or King's Speech Oyster Bruschetta.

Now it's your turn...what's your best Oscar nom/food combo? We'll post the winning combo on the blog Sunday, February 27th.
