Top Eats from New York City’s Best Restaurants

Last week, I was lucky enough to be able to attend the Village Voice Choice Eats Annual Tasting in New York City. Featuring some of the best dishes from New York’s best chefs, the event took place at the 69th Regiment Armory and showcased the diverse and creative landscape of the city’s cuisine. From all-American classics like pulled pork sandwiches and sloppy joes to much fancier fare that included olive oil-filled chocolate bastoncinos and duck, pork and crawfish boudin, there was no shortage of variety.

Brooklyn’s The Blue Stove bakery had pie to satisfy every taste: sour cherry, bacon apple cheddar, pear ginger and plum crumble. Which would you have chosen?

Red Hook Lobster Pound might just have the best lobster roll in the city right now, but it wasn’t lobster they stuffed into their soft buttery bread. Instead? Sweet Maine shrimp came tossed in a homemade tarragon mayonnaise, seasoned and then sandwiched into a top-split JJ Nissen bun.

Brooklyn’s Blue Stove Bakery tempted the crowds with baskets filled to the brim with beautiful pieces of pie. Ranging from sour cherry (pictured) to bacon apple cheddar, there was a little something for everyone.
