Spice Your Holiday Party Food Up with Bourbon
It's easy to use Kentucky bourbon to infuse your chicken wings with more flavor, make unforgettable cocktails and warm up from the inside out — all while spreading some festive cheer.
Start with Chef Lee Anne Wong’s Bourbon Onion Dip (pictured above). Greek yogurt and ricotta cheese lighten up this usually mayonnaise-heavy party favorite. Serve it with raw vegetables or pita chips for an easy snack that will have guests clamoring for more.
Lee Anne's Bourbon Apple Glazed Chicken Wings are tangy sweet and braised then baked, no frying involved. With a prep time of 10 minutes, you’ll have plenty of time to schmooze and prepare the dinner party centerpiece — ham.
“Bourbon, biscuits and ham. 'Nuff said,” Chef Wong says. Baste the ham every 20 minutes with a mix of bourbon, brown sugar, maple syrup, cola and cider vinegar for succulent meat. The Bourbon Biscuits are flaky and rich. Set them out with the ham and let people assemble mini-sandwiches.
No holiday party would be complete without cocktails, and nothing says holidays like this rich Eggnog 46. Splashed with Maker’s 46 and sprinkled with cinnamon and nutmeg, this drink is truly a homemade treat.
For those who perfer a little sparkle, serve Kathy Casey’s Bellini Manhattan with gold-gilded cherries. Part brut champagne, part bourbon and peach puree, your guests will end the night on a high note.
