Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein in Portlandia
Ever since the sketch comedy series Portlandia premiered on IFC last year, I can’t help it: you say “Portland,” I hear “Portlandia.”
That being said, I can’t wait to get a closer look at Portland’s incredible foodie scene this Sunday at 10PM on Unique Eats: Portland.
As we know from the myriad of (fictional?) characters that Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein play, residents of Portland are passionate about many things, with food high on the list (other interests include Feminist Bookshops, scavenging for dinner in dumpsters (aka recycling), and reading every publication ever.)
They love to pickle:

While real Portland residents probably aren’t hiking 30 miles down the road to examine their chicken dinner’s former pasture or pickling every food item they come across, they are dining on some incredible Unique Eats:
These Bacon Cheeseburger Dumplings (from a food truck!) are looking and sounding pretty awesome right now. Classic American comfort food just got global:
The iconic American burger collides with the Asian app to create something totally new, and totally Portland.
Since we’re talking about unique foods, how about Asian street food turned on it’s head? Exhibit A: fried pigs’ ears (Huu Muu Thawt):
Who would have "thawt" that fried pigs' ears could be so delicious?
