The story behind  The Fabulous Beekman Boys is touching and funny, and worth the time to learn. The stripped-down version is that a successful New York City couple, Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge, take a trip upstate, happen upon a dormant but beautiful 19th century farmhouse for sale, and decide to use it as a weekend getaway to make goats' milk soap as a hobby. They both get laid off, so they have to figure out how to use the farm to make a living (an undergoing that involves raising tons of goats, fixing up a 210-year-old house, launching a brand and trying not to let their long-term relationship buckle under the pressure.) The rest of the story unfolds when The Fabulous Beekman Boys premieres Thursday, September 20, at 10pm ET on Cooking Channel.

Josh, a New York Times best-selling author, also shares his version of the sweet, hilarious and emotionally-charged story in his book The Bucolic Plague: How Two Manhattanites Became Gentlemen Farmers: An Unconventional Memoir.

You can enter for a chance to win one of 10 copies of his book. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment telling us how many hits it takes Brent Ridge to hammer in a single nail. (Watch his short video on making your own farmhouse table for the answer.) We'll randomly select 10 winners from all the correct answers.

And be sure to watch The Fabulous Beekman Boys Thursdays at 10pm ET on Cooking Channel.
