Martha! Martha! Martha!

Yes. People may think we (especially Brent) are obsessed with Martha, but, honestly, we truly admire what she did to democratize good taste. It was pioneering work, really, in a country that had lost it’s way among processed foods and fully disposable households.

Martha has been a great supporter of Beekman 1802 since we started the farm and company 5 years ago, and a couple of years ago when Epicurious named us as “ the next Martha Stewarts”, we jokingly told her that it took two men to equal one Martha.

When we filmed the trip to pick up the sheep, we tried to coordinate when Martha would be at her farm in Bedford, NY, so that we could make the drop-off the latest edition to her own menagerie.

We showed up in Bedford around 9:00am. Martha had arrived home from an overseas business trip at 5:00 that morning but nonetheless was still flawless and camera ready when we showed up. She even had snacks and freshly brewed hibiscus ice tea for the crew.

She’s a tough act to follow.
