This celebratory meal of bounty doesn’t have to be a stress-inducing race with the clock. If you’re anything like me on Thanksgiving, when guests arrive, the turkey still needs to rest, the potatoes still need to be mashed, and you’re in a scramble to get lumps out of the gravy. All the while, guests are waiting around hungrily and you’re losing your wits in the kitchen.
Maple Pecan Baked Brie
Pick one or two light nibbles that can be thrown together in a cinch. You can even just arrange a hodgepodge of different cheeses and crackers, or an assortment of cured meats, olives and breads. And if paired with an appetite-stimulating aperitif, guests will only get happier as they wait.
This Thanksgiving, we’re choosing to start off the meal with a stylish, simple-to-prepare Maple Pecan Baked Brie. The pecan praline sauce that crowns the salty, warm baked brie is reminiscent of a pecan pie but with just a touch of sweetness from maple syrup. A generous dose of fragrant, coarsely ground black pepper brings an intricate depth to this savory-sweet appetizer.
