McDonald’s has been around so long now, and served so many billions, that it is just a part of the modern tapestry we call life. So it comes as no surprise that the fast food outfit has begun petitioning the dictionary for inclusion.
It’s true. The company wants Australia’s MacQuarie Dictionary to add an official McWord to next year’s edition. What are they looking to get in there? Big Mac? Loving It? The elusive McRib? Actually, they are looking to include the word “Macca’s.” Never heard of it? It’s popular Australian slang for the brand, and not to be confused with popular British slang for Paul McCartney. Or less popular American slang for Macaulay Culkin.
The dictionary has yet to approve Ronald and Grimace’s request. We’ll, of course, let you know what they decide. In the meantime, the aforementioned McRib is preparing a triumphant return.
