This farmers' market is the ultimate L.A. destination because of the wide variety of places. You can have a craving for just about anything and find it here. I visited The Gumbo Pot for an authentic taste of the Cajun South. Fritzi Dog is a newer addition to the market that’s causing a stir with gourmet hot dogs I had to try for myself. Bennett’s Ice Cream has been around a while serving classic flavors, but the Cabernet Sauvignon Sorbet is the perfect California treat.

Sometimes you have a craving for real barbecue, no matter where you are in the country. Luckily Woody’s Bar-B-Que exists right in Inglewood. I love some good no-nonsense meat from the smoker with a homemade barbecue. When in doubt, this is the perfect go-to spot in Los Angeles.

Tucked in Marina Del Rey is this extremely special little spot. The Southern menu, packed with ribs and hot links, may be found where you’d least expect it, but don’t let the location fool you. Be sure to grab a slice of the famous baklava cheesecake on your way out.

I used to visit Berri’s all the time when I lived in Los Angeles. Just because L.A. is a big city doesn’t mean you can’t have a favorite pizza joint. Locals love this place for just about any occasion because the menu is far from traditional. I’m partial to the Santa Fe BBQ Chicken Pizza, myself.

This is where the locals go for oysters. Bask in the hip scene of Silver Lake, and have your oysters raw or grilled. The owners are young and wanted to create a laid-back establishment with good food and no frills. They have created the perfect spot to have a beer and make friends.

Hollywood's Spoonful’s brunch menu is packed with great Southern options. Pulled pork hash, chicken and waffles, and bourbon French quarter toast transport you to the South. It’s a tasty addition to California’s food scene.
