Heart-Shaped Watermelons

Why, back in my day the apples were always apple shaped and the watermelons were always watermelon shaped. There were no fancy molds using "technology" and other computerized doodads. For better or for worse, Japanese farmers have figured out how to turn the humble watermelon into a perfectly-formed heart. Aww.

Farmer Hiroichi Kimura from Japan’s Kumamoto Prefecture is credited for creating the lovable melons, using a process that took him years of trial and error to develop. According to reviewers, they are crunchy and taste both mellow and sweet (just like hearts.)
