Ah, the Cronut. The greatest show of cross-cultural unity between America and France since French bread pizza. This Frankenstein’s monster is one-part donut and one-part croissant and this year it has taken NYC, and the world, by doughy storm. Maybe this storm was too doughy, actually. In order to get a real Dominique Ansel-approved Cronut, you have to stand in line all day, quietly cursing your rumbling stomach. Or do you?
Dominique Ansel Bakery has recently started an “online reservation” system for these world-shaking treats. You go to this website and reserve the little suckers at five dollars a pop. Unfortunately, you still have to wait in a line — the inescapable line of time. Your Cronuts won’t be ready until two weeks from the day you order them. Hey, at least you avoid the cold.
Speaking of cold, this is only for NYC residents or people that are planning trips to NYC exactly two weeks to the day of when order their Cronuts. They still don’t mail ‘em.
