Caramelized Onion, Spinach and Gruyere Cheese Strata with Sauteed Cherry Tomatoes

After a polar vortex you might be tempted to hunker down and order delivery instead of bundling up to shop for groceries. But many of these comforting recipes from Bobby Flay rely on staples you’ll likely have on hand. Even better, they ensure that you can have the most important meal of the day even after 5pm.

A strata is a breakfast casserole featuring bread, eggs and cheese. Bobby’s version is filled with sauteed cherry tomatoes and spinach. This big batch dish serves eight, but you’ll definitely be tempted for seconds.

This dish is so rich that it can double as dessert. Spread the brioche with a layer of jam before soaking in eggs, sugar and milk. Top the pudding with a butter and jam mixture, place it under the broiler, and broil until the glaze is golden. Serve hot or warm, garnished with fresh strawberries.

Bobby whisks together mayonnaise, dill, mustard, vinegar and paprika before adding jumbo lump crab, poppy seeds and eggs to the mixture. Mound it on slices of pumpernickel bread or eat straight from the bowl.
