Skip traditional treats this Valentine’s Day and make a decadent dessert that will keep you satisfied for days. These bread pudding recipes make enough for a celebratory crowd or can be a sweet treat for the whole weekend for you and your sweetie.
1. Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding (pictured above)
Swap traditional bread for croissants in this chocolate bread pudding. The chocolate custard fills every layer of flaky pastry. Plus croissants are almost all crust, which is the best part of bread pudding. Use stale croissants since they’ll be more firm and absorbent than fresh ones; the finished product will hold together better.
This is a mix of two delicious desserts: cinnamon rolls and bread pudding. Cinnamon challah (or plain brioche or challah plus cinnamon) is mixed with walnuts and custard for this recipe. Add a nut liqueur to reinforce the flavor of the walnuts.
Michael Symon soaks cubed challah bread and apples in an egg and cream mixture before baking in the oven until the top is golden brown.
4. Coconut Bread Pudding with Caramel Rum Sauce
Make this bread pudding a day ahead; it tastes great served cold. But it’s also delicious served warm out of the oven. Make sure to drizzle it with the caramel rum sauce, which gets extra creamy goodness from coconut milk.
Boxed doughnut holes are the bread base for this decadent pudding. With just a few additional ingredients and a chocolate glaze, this dessert will be ready in 60 minutes flat.
