Oh, how the time flies: Today, Cooking Channel turns 4 (!!), and it’s wild to think how much we’ve grown over the last several years. We launched in 2010 as a network (and website) filled with passionate Food People seeking to explore the unconventional, dig into global cuisines and uncover hidden gems. And now that we’re past our toddler years, we can look back on our bounty of new shows and stars, Web-original video series, growing recipe library, and unique food and lifestyle stories, knowing we’ve done just that.
And yet we’ve only scratched the surface. This year, we launched our Adventures in Cooking package: a collection of fun weekend cooking projects for the curious cooks and food geeks who dominate the Food People sector. (We’re talking fermenting kimchi, making bacon from scratch and crafting some seriously creative cakes.) We dug into Dumplings Around the World in honor of the Olympics, made magic fairy dust out of pizza and pastrami (OK, spice mixes that taste just like pizza and pastrami), mashed up your favorite comfort foods and gave you the most epic game plan, ever, for your Super Bowl or game-day party. Speaking of parties: We continue to share the best tips, decorating ideas and recipes for all your entertaining needs. From a last-minute holiday cocktail party to a casual Mediterranean summer fete, our Party in Five series has you covered.
Here on Devour we’ve informed you of the latest wacky food news, helped you get over hump day, sifted through the best of the food blogs and enabled you to get dinner on the table, stat. There’s something for everyone, from those seeking healthy eating tips to those craving the most-decadent desserts. And this blog is the go-to destination for exclusive behind-the-scenes content of our most-popular shows, like Extra Virgin and Road Trip with G. Garvin.
As we turn the page on this next year, Cooking Channel has lots of fun things in store, particularly on the Web-video front. In our third year we gave you more Good to Know hacks to simplify all areas of your life, armed you with ingredient know-how, shared Stupidly Simple Snack ideas and showed you why you’ve been eating your favorite foods in the entirely wrong way. We watched Web-grown Alie and Georgia, stars of our Drinks with Alie & Georgia and Classy Ladies series, take to the TV on Tripping Out with Alie and Georgia. And now our latest star’s debut is hot off the production presses: He’s younger than Cooking Channel, but his inaugural performance is getting lots of buzz. (It’s a must-watch.)
Of course, we can’t forget the exciting things happening on-air — we are a TV network, after all. This summer marks the return of some favorite Cooking Channel stars — the third seasons of Roger Mooking’s Man Fire Food (6/3, 8PM ET) and Chuck’s Eat the Street (7/10, 10PM ET), and the premiere of Bite This with Nadia G. (7/4, 10PM ET) — and the introduction of some new friendly faces. Music legend Rev Run will bring his growing family ’round the table for weekly dinners on Rev Run’s Sunday Suppers (6/8, 10PM ET) and popular actress, blogger and author Haylie Duff brings you inside her Real Girl’s Kitchen in Los Angeles in this new docu-style series (6/7, 2PM ET).
On this 4th birthday, we have so much to celebrate and even more to look forward to. So join us in indulging in a giant slice of Icebox Doughnut Birthday Cake (Not your thing? Here are some more easy birthday cake recipes.) and welcoming our 5th year with sprinkle-studded, sugary smiles.
