Coffee and Donuts Sundae: Fresh-Baked Cinnamon Donuts, Coffee Ice Cream and Hot Fudge Sauce.
Summer’s here, and that means indulging in our favorite summer foods: burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, frosty cocktails and — of course — ice cream.
Every year, ice cream store owners across the country predict which flavors will most appeal to customers. As new flavors come on the market, proprietors weigh the pros and cons of swapping in a new option for a low performer from the previous year. This can mean hitting the jackpot with a hot new flavor, or sinking money into a dud that will sit around all season.
Nowhere is ice cream in higher demand than at the beach, including the Jersey Shore, a destination for New Jersey locals and visitors from nearby New York City and Philadelphia. Skipper Dipper has been a local, family-owned ice cream tradition for 35 years, a line of beach-goers often snaking out the door of its Long Beach Island, NJ location.
Store owner Dave Powitz shares the early ice cream trends from this summer.

Congrats to Cooking Channel’s Baron Ambrosia, who yesterday won a NY Emmy Award in the category of Best On-Camera Talent: Performer/Narrator for his BronxNet show, Bronx Flavor.
The Baron premiered on Cooking Channel last fall in The Culinary Adventures of Baron Ambrosia to rave reviews. Since then, he’s been busy traveling the U.S. — and the world — for the most unique culinary flavors. (Last month, he was invited by Moroccan King Mohammed VI to attend the Moussem of Tan-Tan, a celebration of the food and dance of the nomadic tribes’ people from around the Sahara region.)
Look forward to more from the Baron this summer on Cooking Channel, but, in the meantime, join us in congratulating him on his NY Emmy award!

See you in Austin!
Some dishes are so iconic of America, they bring us together at the table no matter where we live. I’m talking burgers, mac & cheese, pizza, French fries, apple pie, pancakes, etc. (Just ask Jeffrey Saad of United Tastes of America — he’s tried them all.)
But lately we’ve been wondering what dishes are unique to each state. If each state had to pick a dish that really defined it, what would it be?
Our Kitchens did a little research and came up with an interesting list of foods noteworthy to each state. Many are what you’d expect — Deep Dish Pizza in Illinois, BBQ Brisket in Texas, Peach Pie in Georgia, New Jersey’s Italian Subs.
The research found some curious dishes, too — Funeral Potatoes in Utah, Kansas’s Burnt Ends, Sauerkraut Balls in Ohio — not to mention some really odd-sounding ones. Burgoo in Kentucky? Chislic in South Dakota? Spam Musubi in Hawaii? (Apparently it’s a sushi-sized bite of grilled spam atop a block of rice, wrapped in seaweed. We can’t wait to try.)

Cooking Channel: Nadia, you looked amazing in the Bitchin’ Christmas music video we saw last month. Around this time of year, people are looking for ways to drop a few pounds. What was your secret to fitting into that shiny, red spandex body suit?
Nadia G: Tsaketa! We had a lot of fun on that one, and I was definitely watching what I shkoffed leading up to the shoot. But I never skip meals. As the old Italian saying goes: “A shake for breakfast, a shake for lunch, and your thighs still shake for dinner.” Skipping meals makes your body think it’s starving, so it holds on to fat for dear life, literally. Always eat three to five logically portioned meals a day to keep your metabolism up.

Kitchen bad-girl Nadia G. has brought together the funnest faces in food for a hilariously festive Bitchin’ Christmas music video — all for charity. Heart-felt holiday performances by Guy Fieri, Duff Goldman, Travel Channel’s Andrew Zimmern, Kelsey Nixon, Ben Sargent, Alie & Georgia, Vegan Black Metal Chef plus the guys from Epic Meal Time — a truly epic cast!

Like many pork enthusiasts, I get pretty excited about bacon. So, naturally, when I saw this cute Sparkling Bacon Ornament on stupid.com, I squealed with delight. This is bacon so precious, even a vegetarian can get behind it.
Whoever you’re shopping for this holiday, Cooking Channel has some great holiday gift ideas to explore. Some of my faves:
