Thirsty Thursday: A Cocktail for Snow Days

It’s more than just alliteration; it’s a statement, a proclamation that Thursdays are when the weekend should really start. Kicking it off right is the key, and what better way than with a cocktail that not only takes the edge off, but tastes good too. A hard thing to disagree with, we know. Drink up, get down and go to sleep happy.

Who said snow days can’t be fun for adults too? When you’re stuck inside from inclement weather, there’s really no better time for this Rum Hot Toddy. A warm cocktail in hand can turn a freezing-cold day into a comforting and toasty afternoon. It’s all about perspective (and booze), really.

A toddy is the perfect cold-weather beverage, and for centuries this classic cocktail has been a folk remedy for the sniffles, the flu and winter blues. While normally made with whiskey or bourbon, this version is made with rum. Simply infuse hot water and rum with lemon, honey and cinnamon for a soothing and restorative pick-me-up that is sure to keep you warm on snowy days.

Bottoms up, folks!

Thirsty Thursday: A Beerly Legal Cocktail for the Super Bowl

It’s more than just alliteration; it’s a statement, a proclamation that Thursdays are when the weekend should really start. Kicking it off right is the key, and what better way than with a cocktail that not only takes the edge off, but tastes good too. A hard thing to disagree with, we know. Drink up, get down and go to sleep happy.

Super Bowl weekend is upon us, which means this weekend is all about this team vs. that team, crazy commercials, halftime shows and yadda yadda yadda. We get it. The Super Bowl is a pretty big deal when it comes to American entertainment. But Game Day also means it’s time to throw on a pot of chili, make some football-shaped foods and slug back a few (or more) beers!

Kick off your party with a Beerly Legal Cocktail that’s simple to prepare for a crowd and refreshing enough to quench your thirst after all those finger foods. This beer-based cocktail is a simple mixture of tangerine juice, an orange aperitif and your favorite brew. For this year’s Super Bowl showdown, don’t let the drinks be an afterthought. Mix up this football-friendly cocktail.

Thirsty Thursday: Spicy Bloody Bull Cocktail

It’s more than just alliteration; it’s a statement, a proclamation that Thursdays are when the weekend should really start. Kicking it off right is the key, and what better way than with a cocktail that not only takes the edge off, but tastes good too. A hard thing to disagree with, we know. Drink up, get down and go to sleep happy.

Whether it’s hot wings or spicy chili, you can’t go wrong with zesty, sinus-clearing foods for the Super Bowl. Add some zippy, homemade cocktails to your Big Game spread this year as well. With the Red Hot Chili Peppers as the halftime entertainment, it only seems fitting to make a Bloody Bull Cocktail, a beer-based beverage topped with a spicy, red-hot tomato juice.

To begin, whirl tomato juice, jalapeno, horseradish, lemon juice and garlic together in a blender. Then rim pre-chilled glasses with a toasted fennel spice rub, and pour your favorite beer into each glass. Top with the spicy tomato mixture and stir.

This zesty, jalapeno-kissed beverage may pack a punch, but it goes down easy.

Bottoms up, folks!

This Thursday we are throwing back (#tbt) to a classic cocktail, the Old Fashioned, a perennial classic dating back to the 1880s. And it’s no wonder this recipe has stood the test of time ,with it’s ideal blend of sweet, aromatic and smoky flavors coming together in one smooth sip.

Start by muddling an orange slice with a maraschino cherry, a dash of Angostura bitters and a sprinkle of sugar in a glass to break up the cherry and fully release the oils in the orange slice. Add bourbon, and then finish with a splash of soda water to mellow the bite of the bourbon. Serve this ever-classy cocktail on the rocks for a chilled beverage that will elevate any evening.

Bottoms up, folks!

Kicking it off right is the key, and what better way than with a cocktail that not only takes the edge off, but tastes good too. A hard thing to disagree with, we know. It’s an excuse to have a little something sweet for dinner. For those who could consume a bowl of cranberry sauce like it’s a bowl of cereal, here’s a boozy way to get your fix.

Thirsty Thursday: Thanksgiving’s a Breeze Seabreezes

In our humble opinion, Thanksgiving is superior to any other day of the year. In an effort to make this year’s feast the best of all time (sorry, Pilgrims and Wampanoag tribe), we’re bringing you the recipes, how-tos and decorating ideas to help you become a Turkey Day pro.

Warning: we do not recommend drinking while carving. And while we definitely want to avoid the potentially hazardous situation of carving a turkey under the influence, we also think that everyone could use a drink on the morning of Thanksgiving to curb some of that holiday stress.

Think of this cocktail as an autumnal screwdriver (vodka + orange juice) with the addition of cranberry juice and fresh mint. This Seabreeze is the perfect morning beverage to wake you up to start that bird early on Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving, folks!
