Thirsty Thursday: Thanksgiving’s a Breeze Seabreezes

In our humble opinion, Thanksgiving is superior to any other day of the year. In an effort to make this year’s feast the best of all time (sorry, Pilgrims and Wampanoag tribe), we’re bringing you the recipes, how-tos and decorating ideas to help you become a Turkey Day pro.

It’s more than just alliteration; it’s a statement, a proclamation that Thursdays are when the weekend should really start. Kicking it off right is the key, and what better way than with a cocktail that not only takes the edge off, but tastes good too. A hard thing to disagree with, we know. Drink up, get down and go to sleep happy.

Warning: we do not recommend drinking while carving. And while we definitely want to avoid the potentially hazardous situation of carving a turkey under the influence, we also think that everyone could use a drink on the morning of Thanksgiving to curb some of that holiday stress.

Think of this cocktail as an autumnal screwdriver (vodka + orange juice) with the addition of cranberry juice and fresh mint. This Seabreeze is the perfect morning beverage to wake you up to start that bird early on Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving, folks!

Thirsty Thursday: Shoot A Wild Turkey Cocktail

In our humble opinion, Thanksgiving is superior to any other day of the year. In an effort to make this year’s feast the best of all time (sorry, Pilgrims and Wampanoag tribe), we’re bringing you the recipes, how-tos and decorating ideas to help you become a Turkey Day pro.

This year give thanks to having your favorite Thanksgiving side dish transformed into a cocktail. That’s right! The Sweet Potato Casserole with all its silky, nutmeg-y goodness, is making its debut this year as a yummy (and yammy) cocktail shooter.

When you combine Wild Turkey bourbon, butterscotch schnapps, sweet potatoes and torched mini marshmallows, you get the best cocktail creation for the Turkey Day afterparty. After a long day of cooking, baking and entertaining, it’s time to shoot some Wild Turkey (bourbon). While it may not have been what the pilgrims had in mind for Thanksgiving, it’s still pretty satisfying.

Bottoms up, folks!

Thirsty Thursday: Mulled Cider Cocktail

The countdown has begun: Thanksgiving is now only 2 weeks away, and by my calendar that means it’s time to plan the menu for this cheerfully anticipated holiday meal. While the traditional staples are a necessity (after all, what would Thanksgiving be without a turkey?), oftentimes we miss the opportunity to make autumn-inspired cocktails to begin the feasting right.

This Mulled Cider Cocktail is the perfect pairing for Thanksgiving appetizers. Apple cider is infused with cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg, and is mixed with fresh apple pieces. This mulled cider then gets topped with Cava, a dry sparkling wine, for a cocktail that is sophisticated, yet also celebratory.

Impress your guests by greeting them with this bubbly beverage right as they walk through the door with cranberry sauce and dinner rolls. Then while you’re whipping the potatoes, carving the turkey and adding the finishing touches to your Thanksgiving feast, guests will remain in good spirits.

Thirsty Thursday: Apple Toddy

It’s more than just alliteration; it’s a statement, a proclamation that Thursdays are when the weekend should really start. Kicking it off right is the key, and what better way than with a cocktail that not only takes the edge off, but tastes good too. A hard thing to disagree with, we know. Our post-Halloween palates tend to crave something comforting, warming and delicately spiced as the holiday season rolls in and the weather grows increasingly nippy. This Apple Toddy is the perfect accompaniment to chilly winter nights and serves as a delicious reminder of seasonal pleasures.

While a traditional hot toddy involves whiskey and warm spices, this cider-based version gets a boozy boost from brandy. Simmer together apple cider, orange wedges studded with cloves, and cinnamon sticks. Ladle the steaming beverage into mugs along with a shot of brandy, and top with a luxurious dollop of fresh whipped cream.

Bottoms up, folks.

Thirsty Thursday: Bloody Brain Shooters

When it comes to Halloween night, entertaining is a “no brainer”: It’s time to mix up a chilling beverage to go with the candy, caramel apples and spooky snacks. Satisfy your lust for blood with these Bloody Brain Shooters, an appropriately creepy, grenadine-laced concoction that’s enough to lure in brain-eating zombies.

For this bloody-good Halloween shooter, mix chilled strawberry vodka with lime juice and top with the bloody “brains,” a mixture of Bailey’s and dripping red grenadine. The results are positively spine-tingling.

This powerful potion is sure to liven up your Halloween night (but those zombies will stay positively undead).

Happy Halloween, folks!

Thirsty Thursday: Zombie Cocktail

Kicking it off right is the key, and what better way than with a cocktail that not only takes the edge off, but tastes good too. A hard thing to disagree with, we know. Halloween is one week away, which means it’s time to pick out a pumpkin, finalize the details of your costume and, of course, host a well-themed, spooky soiree.

Add some wickedness to your Halloween festivities with this post-apocalyptic Zombie Cocktail, a powerful brew of apricot brandy, three kinds of rum and orange juice. Be warned, the festive jack-o-lantern hue may seem innocent enough, but this punch is bound to wake up the undead.

Boo-ttoms up, folks.

Thirsty Thursday: Apple of My Pie

October marks the official beginning of pie season (at least by my calendar), and in case you’re looking for a new and inventive way to get your pie fix (aren’t we all?), look no further than Alie and Georgia’s creative Apple of My Pie cocktail.

This weirdly delicious concoction is made with apple brandy, cinnamon liqueur, and a whole thick wedge of streusel-topped apple pie. Buttery crust, fragrant filling and all gets blended with the booze until smooth and delicious. For a truly all-American experience, garnish with cheddar. It’s the perfect way to curb your pie cravings. Oh, and the best part? Eating the rest of the pie alongside your cocktail.

Bottoms up, folks.

Thirsty Thursday: A Beer and a Ball Cocktail

It’s more than just alliteration; it’s a statement, a proclamation that Thursdays are when the weekend should really start. Kicking it off right is the key, and what better way than with a cocktail that not only takes the edge off, but tastes good too. A hard thing to disagree with, we know. Drink up, get down and go to sleep happy.

Since Oktoberfest means there’s no point in drinking anything except beer, let’s raise a glass (ahem, a beer stein) to this beer-based sipper that will help us celebrate the drinking traditions of Germany. This Beer and a Ball cocktail offers some refreshment and variety, but it will also help you hold onto the traditional values of this beer-filled holiday season.

Start by muddling sage and grapefruit together, and add Campari, Aperol and a touch of simple syrup to round out the bittersweet flavors. Splash some pale lager into the mixture, and garnish the glass with a fragrant wedge of grapefruit. Sage-kissed and touched with sweetness, all you’ll need with this cocktail is a soft pretzel and a sausage to celebrate Oktoberfest in style.

Bottoms up, folks!

P.S. This cocktail would also make a great addition to your next football party spread.

Thirsty Thursday: A Cocktail to Get You Excited About Fall

What to do when the hot summer days are behind us, and those slushy, boozed-up punches with party straws and umbrellas are no longer fitting for the season? Well, we stir ourselves up a fall-fashioned cocktail to welcome in the new season!

Now that it’s officially fall and we are swapping in amber leaves for summer sun, try this cocktail with a deep, burnt-orange hue that mimics Autumn Colors. This fall-inspired sip gets its color from pomegranate liqueur and sweet ice tea mixed with vodka and orange zest. Its crisp taste reminds us of the cooling air that characterizes the fall harvest season.

Bottoms up, folks.

Thirsty Thursday: Earl Grey Spritzer

It’s more than just alliteration; it’s a statement, a proclamation that Thursdays are when the weekend should really start. Kicking it off right is the key, and what better way than with a cocktail that not only takes the edge off, but tastes good too. A hard thing to disagree with, we know. Drink up, get down and go to sleep happy.

Tea time meets happy hour in this mild and well-balanced Earl Grey Spritzer. Naturally light and refreshing, this cocktail isn’t ready to give up on the still-warm summer air even as it slowly fades into autumn.

Start by steeping Earl Grey tea bags in homemade simple syrup and allow the mild bitterness of the tea to be fully infused in the sweet mixture. Then spoon this Early Grey simple syrup into tall glasses and top with chilled Champagne or sparkling wine. Cool, crisp and bubbly, this is the kind of cocktail we image you to have at a brunch fit for a queen.

Bottoms up, folks.
