Here’s how I’ve decided to prepare for my weekend: 1) Buy new pairs of shorts in hopes that the weather will just get the point already. 2) Take my cognac down from the top shelf to make something dreamy.
When I think of cognac, I think of the classic cocktail called the Sidecar. Believed to be invented around the end of the First World War and named for the motorcycle sidecars, this drink brings together cognac with orange-flavored Cointreau, lemon juice and a sweet sugared rim.
Giada brings another element into play in her Side Car Martini. Limoncello and lime juice offer another note of citrusy depth to this cocktail, and the sugared rim also gets a hint of lime zest. Get ready for the weekend and raise your glass to something sophisticated, tangy and slightly sweet.
Bottoms up, folks.

For a festive way to kick off the holidays, try this decadent and celebratory White Chocolate Cherry Martini. White chocolate liqueur, maraschino liqueur and Irish cream come together in a wintry concoction, and are then mixed with vanilla vodka for a thick, rich and dessert-like cocktail that’s perfect for a holiday party. The literal “cherry on top” is a sweet garnish of chocolate-covered cherries. Guests will go crazy for this winter wonderland cocktail.
Just a tip: You might want to make extra chocolate-covered cherries. It’s the holidays after all.
Here’s to some holiday cheer. Bottoms up, folks.

Spiced Apple Martini
It’s more than just alliteration; it’s a statement, a proclamation that Thursdays are when the weekend should really start. Kicking it off right is the key, and what better way than with a cocktail that not only takes the edge off, but tastes good too. A hard thing to disagree with, we know. Drink up, get down and go to sleep happy.
Marcus Samuelsson is a chef, author and, now, the culinary brand ambassador for SKYY Vodka, too. One of the delicious libations he created for a party at his restaurant’s underground supper club, Ginny’s, was a fall-focused Apple Spiced Martini. The key is homemade Apple Spiced Simple Syrup, combined with tangy lime juice for an apple-centric cocktail with just the right amount of sweetness.
Bottoms up, folks.

Cocktails at The Redwood Room, Clift Hotel San Francisco.
Having reviewed thousands of hotels, we at Oyster.com have slept in many different beds, swam in hundreds of pools, and sipped quite a few fantastic hotel bar cocktails. (I mean, we have to review everything, right?)
Some of the most delicious hotel bar cocktails we’ve tried go beyond the gin and tonic — way beyond. Check out five of our favorite cocktails from hotel bars around the world. If you can’t make the trip, make them at home — we got the recipes. Either way, these drinks won’t disappoint.
The Cocktail: Lavender Lemondrop
Found at: Clift San Francisco
Arguably the chicest bar in San Francisco, the Redwood Room exudes a hip feel thanks to the eponymous, tree-lined walls, oversized portraits, and thoroughly classic design. Martinis are this spot’s specialty — especially with the business crowd who frequents the Clift — with flavors ranging from blue cheese to sweet lychee. Redwood Room uses all-natural ingredients, so we recommend you do the same when serving up your own crop of these cocktails.

It’s more than just alliteration; it’s a statement, a proclamation that Thursdays are when the weekend should really start. Kicking it off right is the key, and what better way than with a cocktail that not only takes the edge off, but tastes good too. Last week we stirred up a spicy Michelada, this week we’re back with the perfect drink for ushering in the fall season.
Classic martinis are great, don’t get us wrong, but spicing things up for the season is a whole lot sexier. Giada’s got an Espresso martini sure to knock your socks off, and Emeril’s Roasted Garlic Stuffed Olive Martini is pretty tasty. With fall knocking on our doors, and apple orchards around the country readying themselves for prime picking season, what better way to celebrate than with an Apple and Thyme Martini? Bottoms up, folks.
