For two California chicks, Miami feels exotic the second you step out of the plane, when this weird phantom thing called “humidity” hits you in the bangs. The very air around you feels different, mysterious. The city’s pastel art deco architecture, thick vegetation, spicy exciting cuisine, threat of gator attacks and people in G-strings all make Miami seem like less of a vacation destination and more like a trip to an alternate universe.
Georgia had never been to Miami, and Alie had never been to Miami without her former boyfriend’s parents, so we had some giddy spring break vacationing on our agenda. We packed some anti-frizz hairspray and set out for South Florida, and this episode — our season finale — features some of our favorite Tripping Out memories:

When we list the six locations we chose to visit for our first season of Tripping Out with Alie & Georgia, we always get the same few question:
- “Which was your favorite location?”
- What was Alaska like??”
- “Marfa??? Where the F is Marfa?”
The answers to those questions are:
- Miami for Georgia/Alaska for Alie
- Freaking beautiful
It’s the last of those questions that we’re tackling today, as on the last episode of Tripping Out, we we visited that weird and wonderful town of Marfa, TX. We chose Marfa because it was just so off the beaten path we were sure to have a memorable time. And we did!

Aaaaaah!laska. That’s what you’ll say when you get off the plane, partly because the airport has taxidermied albino beavers and snarling wolves next to the baggage carousel, and partly because it’s quite possibly the most gorgeous place in the United States. Either way, this vast pioneer expanse of northern U.S. territory will have you making sounds you haven’t made before.
We chose Homer as our destination because we’d heard it was small, quaint. Also, it’s home to mariners and farmers and rough, beardy frontiersmen. The man:woman ratio in Alaska is said to be 107:1, but like they say up there: “The odds are good, but the goods are odd.” Watch tonight’s episode of Tripping Out with Alie and Georgia to see if that’s true.
In the Alaska episode, you’ll also see:

For episode 3 of Tripping Out with Alie & Georgia (tonight at 10:30pm ET), we revisit one of our favorite cities in the world, San Francisco. It’s the city of Alie’s birth, and where Georgia lived for a happy three years in the early 00s, so it was only natural that the “city by the bay” be on our list of “must visits” for our first season.
Like a more manageable, less intimidating Manhattan, San Francisco offers diverse neighborhoods complete with ethnic cuisine from all over the world, a fast paced lifestyle yet plenty of great spots to find respite, and a storied history that gives visitors something to ooh and aah over around every corner.
We both love the city, but we lived there many years apart, so we took our visit as an opportunity to show one another our personal favorite spots around town. We also had a chance to discover some fun new destinations that have cropped up since we both left. Considering we did our touring on a scooter, we think the fact that we didn’t die is reason enough for our later celebrations back in our beloved Los Angeles.
